Hello all, please update your bookmarks. Wreck List has moved to new digs over at enjin:
-
Since Curse has taken over Wowstead, we've experienced a number of issues with the site, not the least of which include much lag in loading pages and frequent periods when our website is just unavailable. The Wreck List uses features like the Shoutbox and our forums on a daily basis, so to be without these features regularly is a big problem. In addition many members have find the new Wowstead site to be confusing with too many useless bells and whistles.
So we considering moving to Enjin. Please come over, register there and give it a look and see what you think. http://wrecklist.enjin.com/home
Edit from Tay: I've added a poll over that the possible new site. Please head over there and vote :)

Thanks for stopping by the website of the Wreck List, the unofficial guild of the Daily Kos community. We are a big, friendly, stable social guild that raids. In fact we are also one of the top 10 raiding guilds on the server according sites like Wowprogress and Guildox. We've done this well with a relaxed attitude that puts fun first, while sticking to our principles. If you would like to find out more about those principles please read our Declaration of Purpose and Principles. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Wreck List, please put in an application by visiting our recruitment page.
And now Welcome to all our new members from Daily Kos, Easily Amused, the Garrosh server, friends of Doomcat, Clarix, and Svarthel, and everyone else. We are so glad to have you here. Please be sure to register here so you can get access to our wonderful forums. And if you haven't yet, please read our Declaration of Purpose and Principles. Reading this document along with having and using a Blizzard authenticator are required for promotion in the guild. But there are some fun rewards buried in the Declaration and you'll get an adorable non-combat pet when you get your authenticator, so it's not all that bad. Once you've done all that reading, please be sure to talk to Mama (aka Dkosmama, that's me), or any Champion or Protector to be promoted. And anything that we can do to help, please let us know. Welcome to the Wreck List!

It looks like the roster finally updated. I think I have all the permissions set correctly. But it appears that all of our forums from the last week or so were eaten.
The first incarnation of the new site was really cool with the big orange dragon. But it was also the black background with white text, which I find very difficult to read after awhile. All the words start swimming together even when I kick up the magnification. So I was checking out other options. This one is kind of boring, but at least it's a white background with black letters. Please let me know what which you prefer. Thanks.
UPDATE: The white background was too bright. This one is more subdued. Still not fancy, but a nicer compromise. I can read it.

Hello everyone,
OK, so I'm sure you've noticed the Wowstead revamp, it looks pretty good.
Unfortunately, however, Wowstead also screwed up all of the setting for the forums. We've had to go through and set each character manually, and it's all very confusing, so I hope you'll bear with us.
Two things: (1) we've tried to get everyone, but it's likely we missed some folks - please send a PM to Moody, Mama, or me, and hopefully we can figure out how to fix it; and (2) although we have tried to reset everybody's settings and permissions, it looks like there is a long queue on the Wowstead end before the updates take place, so we're not sure how long it will take. :(

The Wreck List
A Declaration of our Purpose and Principles
Welcome to the home of the Wreck List, the guild for liberal and progressive bloggers and their family and friends! Moodyloner founded the Wreck List to be a sanctuary from the bigotry and the threatening racist, homophobic, and misogynist language and ideas that we have had to endure while playing until now.
While guild chat is mostly non-political, it is also where we express our leftist political views. Because many guild members did not come to the Wreck List through political blogs, we do not expect everyone to hold progressive views on all issues; however, we do expect that all members respect the liberal foundation of the guild. This guild is a haven for us and not a forum for debating the views espoused by Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin or other provocative figures on the right.
We believe that every person, young or old, deserves respect. Every member is important regardless of his or her particular skills, interests, or experience within the game. Trust and responsibility in the Wreck List are earned exclusively through participation in the guild and support of fellow guild members. Gear scores, DPS, raiding experience, titles, achievements, and other character accomplishments confer no additional status.
Who We Are
We range in age from kids as young as eight to retired folks. The median age is around 40. We are women, men, transgender, gay, straight, single, and married. (Mama and Papa, however, are just good friends — people do ask.) We are from New York City to Los Angeles, from Seattle to Florida, from Canada to Arizona. We are professors, plumbers, political activists, Marines, engineers, students, and stay-at-home moms, dads, and grandparents. We are socialists, Democrats, independents, decline-to-state. A few of us are even sensible conservatives. We are hunters, gardeners, peace activists, soldiers, athletes, scientists, artists, musicians, atheists, ministers, mystics and comedians. Mostly, we are friends.
Our guild leader is Dkosmama. We all just call her Mama. She can be reached at Dkosmama at wrecklist dot net if you have questions or are interested in more information about our guild.
We have a Council of Elders who advise Mama and a Council of Heroes who assist the guild by organizing raids, managing the guild vaults and more . We honor members who go above and beyond in their contributions to the guild with a special rank of Guild Champion . The Champions are nominated by their fellow guild members and have special responsibilities. All leadership members are committed to treating their fellow guild members with courtesy, respect and dignity.

I am so ready for this winter to be over. I hope it’s warmer where you are.
We have some cool guild activities coming up this month, including our own fishing contest. Watch for details soon.
Account security:
Selling of gold ingame is big business and most of that gold comes from stolen accounts. Those who do this are becoming more clever all the time. Even if you have never been hacked and are militant about protecting your account, there is no guarantee. The official forums are full of horror stories about people having their accounts stolen, including people who specialize in IT security.
Please review Blizzard’s recommendation about account security. And please consider ordering or downloading an Authenticator now. It’s a downloadable app now for most cell phones.
Even with an Authenticator though, you need to be careful. I’ve posted an article on the guild forums about what to look for.

We have developed into quite an enterprise. The other night I was chatting with another guild leader, and he commented that we are an exceptionally large guild. In an era when many guild are getting smaller and more specialized, we are growing larger and more diverse.
For those who don’t know, we were started last April by Moodyloner as a comment in the Cheers&Jeers diary on Dailykos.com and the rest is history. We have almost 350 members with over 150 accounts. Some of those are inactive, but almost 100 people play regularly, and I do know who all of you are. We run 4 or 5 raids a week from Naxx10 to ICC25. We have families that all play together. We have people leveling 10 alts at once. And we have people who are discovering how much fun PvP can be.
The question is where do we go from here. See the Guild Forums for more.

Be sure to grab your groundhog pet from the Guild Vault. (I know it says that it's a prairie dog, but it's really a groundhog.) Then make a macro to summon it, target it, point at it, and say (or yell) "Look! It's Punxsutawney Phil! I wonder if he sees his shadow?" Then spam it in Org or Dalaran. Won't that be fun!
