Thoughts for Maintenance Day

Posted by DkosmamaFebruary 9, 2010 at 11:07 am

We have developed into quite an enterprise. The other night I was chatting with another guild leader, and he commented that we are an exceptionally large guild. In an era when many guild are getting smaller and more specialized, we are growing larger and more diverse.

For those who don’t know, we were started last April by Moodyloner as a comment in the Cheers&Jeers diary on Dailykos.com and the rest is history. We have almost 350 members with over 150 accounts. Some of those are inactive, but almost 100 people play regularly, and I do know who all of you are. We run 4 or 5 raids a week from Naxx10 to ICC25. We have families that all play together. We have people leveling 10 alts at once. And we have people who are discovering how much fun PvP can be.

The question is where do we go from here. See the Guild Forums for more.

Happy Groundhog Day

Be sure to grab your groundhog pet from the Guild Vault. (I know it says that it's a prairie dog, but it's really a groundhog.) Then make a macro to summon it, target it, point at it, and say (or yell) "Look! It's Punxsutawney Phil! I wonder if he sees his shadow?" Then spam it in Org or Dalaran. Won't that be fun!

We're on Facebook

The Wreck List is now on Facebook as "The Wreck List". The group is private so you will have to request membership.

January News

Posted by DkosmamaJanuary 11, 2010 at 7:25 am
January, the time to get organized. Start that new diet. Renew the membership at the Y. Start writing that memoir.

For Wreckies it's time to order your authenticator. Blizzard is giving away an adorable pet when you use one. You will need one in order to get anything other than Worm Meat out of the guild vault, and finally Blizzard will no longer restore your account if it hacked. All you will get is 2,500 gold and a few emblems. So order your authenticator and use it.

Next up, raiding. All level 80 characters must choose a raid rating. Raiding is by no means mandatory. If Raiding isn't your thing, than you can choose either the racy NC-17 or the classic Not Rated. But raiding in the Wreck List is for everyone and anyone who wants to try it. In the old days, raiding was only for the hardocre elitie players, and a lot of guilds still treat it that way. But not us. Everyone who wants to raid will get the chance. We have lots of flavors of raiding. R is for the Action-Adventure, heart-pounding, blood-bath types. PG is for those who prefer a goofy romantic comedy of errors. G is for those just getting their feet wet. And PG-13 is the experimental art-house flicks where you never know what will happen. Please read all the various forum posts and then pick your style. All level character in the 70s will get a G rating to start them out. Contact Mama to change your rating whenever you which.

Finally, News on the Guild Vault. Tab 6, where we keep the goodies is going to see turn-over much more often. The oldest stuff is on the left, and it will go to the Auction House or else to be sharded as that section of the Vault is full. Please check regularly, at least once a week, and grab items that you can use, either for mains or alts, even if you can't use them right now. Most of the blues are level 70-80 but we do get stuff in the 50-70 range, especially right after a heritage run.

Stay warm, everyone!

New Year's resolutions

Posted by DkosmamaDecember 28, 2009 at 1:47 pm
I resolved to be more organized.

To that end, I will try to get out a monthly newsletter to everyone in game, but here it is again.

Happy New Year Wreckies! It’s almost 2010. Time to get organized.

First the news. We have now exceeded 300 members with 150 accounts. We have 64 level 80s. There are 5 more at 75-79 and 16 at 71-74. Hurry up guys because starting in mid-January we are going to start running Naxx 25.

And now down to business. Welcome to the website. If you haven't already, please log on and claim your toons. The password is in the Guild Info panel in the game.

Now that you are here:

Introduce yourself in the Introductions thread.

Answer the questions in the Census thread.

Vote in the poll for your preferred raiding day if you plan to raid. And post a comment in the thread in the Raiding forum on what raids you'd like us to focus on.

Step two. Update your guild note in-game with a list of your alts.

Step three. If you are interested in getting a free wrecklist.net email account, drop Pinutos a note. Getting a wrecklist email will make it easier for us all to stay in touch, and for me to get in touch with you out of the game, if the need should arise.

May 2010 be a better year for us all!

Have a 301 Merry Christmas!

The Wreck List now has 301 members and 150 accounts! Way to go!

Although I don't consider myself a Christian or even a believer in God, I do believe in Santa Claus. An d I do believe that "if Jesus came back and saw what was being done in his name, he'd never stop throwing up." Because if Jesus came back, he'd be a Democrat! And a Socialist! Sometimes it seems like the only people who are trying to do what he preached about are Democratic activists, a lot of whom don't even believe in him. And as God says in his blog:

Being that I’m God, I hear everyone’s prayers…even some I’d rather not (Sarah, you know who I’m talking about). Last night I heard this one prayer and I just had to blog about it.

Now, in order to keep Deity-Worshipper confidentiality I can’t divulge the name of the person who prayed. We’ll call him Mr. OK. Ok?

So, there I am, considering whose prayers I’m going to answer in the football games this weekend when I hear this prayer from Mr. OK for me to lend a hand in making a Democratic Senator ill or die so he can’t vote to give health care to any of my other children.

That was so wack! I told my son, he just rolled his eyes, shook his head and went back to planning his birthday party for Friday. He did say, “Funny how the ones who want me to come back the soonest are going to be the ones least happy to see me.”

Thinking about that makes me smile.  So here's to us. And here's to that good Democrat, that good Socialist, that all around good guy. Happy belated birthday (because the actual birthday was probably in the summer)! And God or Goddess or Allah or Flying Spaghetti Monster bless us all, Bless us every one!

On raids and raiding

Posted by DkosmamaDecember 21, 2009 at 11:25 am
We may not be a raiding guild, but we are a guild with a lot of people who like to raid together. If you are keen to raid with fellow Wreckies after the New Year, then please read the post in the Raid Forum, and then vote in the poll for your best days and post a comment on what raids you'd like us to prioritize. It will probably take a couple of weeks into January before we get all the details hashed out. So between now and then, Mama's go to take the initiative and schedule two Weekly Raid Quest nights as well as night an additional night for farming ICC trash for rep with the new faction. If these nights don't work out for you, then please let me know. Finally be sure to sign up for Tamalli's Naked Molten Core run on New Years Eve!

Please Vote

According to the website Guildox.com, The Wreck List is ranked 9 out of 20 for guilds that only run 10 man raids and 4 out of 20 in raid achievements. When ranked among all the realm raiding guilds that registered on that site, we are ranked 63 out 84 guilds for 10-man raid progress and 47 out of 84 for 10-man raid achievements. There is an important poll running right now on whether to continue as a strict 10 man guild. Please read this forum post BEFORE voting in the poll. And FYI, the #3 guild right now on our server is Cryme Tyme, while Tao, the guild home of players banned for making racist comments in the trade channel is #2.
